Early Years Census
The early years census is an annual statutory collection of data from all providers who receive early years education funding for two, three and four year olds.
The next Early Years Census will take place on Thursday 15 January 2026
The Census captures a snapshop of how many:
- settings deliver funded early education
- children aged between 9 months and 4 years old who attend the setting (both funded and non-funded)
- Staff, summarised by qualification and levels
Child level data required for the census was collected through the Spring term 2026 headcount via the Portal.
Copies of certificates for early years professional status (EYPS) and qualified teacher status (QTS) were required to be submitted by Friday 13 February 2026.
